Greenbelt Gain BwN Assessors Status Three of Greenbelt’s senior team have qualified as certified Building with Nature (BwN) Assessors following an intensive training course and further research studies. This allows Gordon Millar, Sustainability & Biodiversity Manager, Robin Waddell, Development Director UK, and Adam Ralph, Director of Sales North, to add another knowledge bank and arm of expertise to Greenbelt. This is not only valuable in managing Public Open Space (POS) on current developments but, importantly, provides a resource developers can easily tap into when designing and building-out their new projects.BwN is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to put high quality green infrastructure at the heart of placemaking within developments.A wealth of research demonstrates the range of benefits incorporating nature into the built-environment can bring to people and the environment both locally and further afield, including a contribution to tackling the climate crisis. The key BwN themes of Wellbeing, Water and Wildlife provide the canvas onto which landscape designers can plan-out coherent green infrastructure initiatives that optimise multi-functionality and connectivity. Greenbelt have been expertly managing an array of green infrastructure on residential developments for decades. However Building with Nature recognises that, in order to deliver the optimum package of benefits within their context, sites need to be designed accordingly, straight from their conception and the earliest of pencilled sketches.Sites that meet the high, but achievable, design standards can be put forward for a BwN award via an application and, where practical, an iterative assessment process.Greenbelt help our teams to continually upskill and, in their capacity as BwN Assessors, Gordon, Robin and Adam will now be able to offer assistance to, and work with, developers who decide to seek a BwN award for a new project or, indeed, an existing one that might meet the standards.Find out more here about how Greenbelt can help in creating sustainable and biodiverse POS.
