Greenbelt gets ready for the big Kiltwalk When it comes to vital fundraising Greenbelt will always be up for a challenge... and this includes the annual Kiltwalk, the walking event where participants can raise funds for the charity or group closest to their hearts. Last year alone, Kiltwalk raised an incredible £37 million for more than 3,000 different organisations. This year Greenbelt’s very own Managing Director will be tackling The Mighty Stride leg of the Kiltwalk on Sunday, April 30: a 22.7-mile trek from Glasgow Green to the finish line at Balloch by Loch Lomond. In memory of their lifelong friend Eileen, Colin and Gillian Thomson, alongside many of Eileen’s closest friends, will be donning tartan and walking boots to raise funds for The Ayrshire Hospice, whose extraordinary experts provided palliative care and support for their friend and family. Ayrshire Hospice has been the sole provider of specialist palliative care across Ayrshire and Arran for more than 30 years. It costs £22,000 a day to run the Hospice, amounting to around £8 million a year, with two thirds of the necessary finance funded entirely through voluntary donations. Colin said: “I feel honoured that, as Eileen’s friends, we can all come together to be part of this charity endeavour in her memory. “Seeing first-hand the extraordinary work the Ayrshire Hospice nurses provide for those in their care and their families was truly humbling. “I know all of us are thankful to be able to be able to show our ongoing support through Kiltwalk.” Greenbelt is delighted to be donating £500 toward this truly deserving charity, with more cash being pledged by colleagues and friends. If you, too, would like to support this marvellous cause, you can donate easily and securely on this Just Giving page.We wish all of the amazing Kiltwalkers the very best of luck on April 30!
