Case Study: Saltersgate

These managed open spaces feature both rough and amenity grass areas, as well as mulched shrub beds, hedges, mature woodland, amenity trees and structure belts in a mix of broadleaf and conifers.

The smaller, central open spaces are ideal for young children to play outside whilst remaining under close supervision from the nearby homes, and the woodlands and larger external spaces lend well to ramblers and joggers.

Towards the eastern edge of the development lies Lugton House, formerly the site of Lugton Walled Gardens, which achieved Grade C listed building status with Historic Environment Scotland back in January 2004, now forming part of Greenbelt’s bespoke maintenance regimes.

The beautiful, vibrant open spaces at Saltergate are further decorated by beautiful works of art which Greenbelt will continue to manage and maintain on behalf of residents throughout the lifetime of the development - like the stunning carved wooden triple archway, right.
