Merry Christmas from Greenbelt

With Christmas just around the corner and 2018 almost over, we’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year from everyone at Greenbelt!

Our winter maintenance schedule has already begun in earnest, and runs until the end of March. Winter maintenance prioritises works such as edging and planting – which are best carried out at this time of year, when most plants have died back or entered a state of dormancy.

To celebrate Christmas without compromising our commitment to a sustainable, ecological future, we’ve opted for a ‘living Christmas tree’ this year too.

By choosing a tree that can be re-planted or re-used after the holidays, you too can cut down on the ecological impact of your ‘festive footprint’… remember, a tree is for life, not just for Christmas!

In keeping with Greenbelt tradition, we also took part in ‘Christmas jumper day’ and held an office bake sale to raise funds for charity.

The variety of Christmas jumpers and festive outfits on ranged from the woolly and colourful, to the creative and downright bizarre, but our efforts on the day raised a wonderful £182.

Topped up by other donations from the Greenbelt family across the wider festive period, this has now risen even higher. Incredibly, Greenbelt's Senior Management Team have agreed to match this figure, for a substantial total that's still rising as donations roll in!

However, Christmas can also be a solemn time for many, as we think of absent friends or reflect back on those who we’ve lost over the year.

This year, instead of sending Christmas cards to our colleagues and partner organisations, Greenbelt is making a separate donation to Marie Curie in memory of our dear friend and colleague Anne Shipton, who very sadly passed away in December 2017.

You can support our commitment to Marie Curie’s incredible support services by donating here.

If you have any urgent concerns over the festive period, residents can reach our out-of-hours freephone emergency line by dialling 0800 028 1749, and following the simple directions for connecting to the emergency line.

From everyone at Greenbelt, have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
