Grassroots learning with Greenbelt

Community engagement at every level is at the heart of the Greenbelt ethos. That’s why we’re delighted to announce an exciting new project with Lifeworks College.

Lifeworks College is an independent specialist further education college for young adults with learning disabilities. Gardening skills are an important part of their learning curriculum and, as a leading land management company, we were more than happy to offer our assistance with developing their horticultural talents.

The college is located next door to Origins, which is part of a wonderful new homes development in Dartington in Devon, built by Cavanna Homes.

Greenbelt and Cavanna have worked together over a number of years on many beautiful developments and Greenbelt have been appointed to manage the areas of open space and surface water system at Origins.

As part of our initiative here, Greenbelt will employ Lifeworks College to maintain a small part of the open space as part of the students’ invaluable real life work experience.

Also located next to the college is Shinners Bridge Garden Machinery, who were able to assemble and deliver our new petrol mower for the students.

Our picture shows students, from left, Ben Webb, Kallie Rogers and Georgia Dixon inspecting the new machinery.

We wish the students the very best as they embark on their horticultural journey.
