Hurricane Warning

We would like to alert all of our customers that the Met Office has warned of “potential danger to life” as the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia reach the UK.

An amber warning for Northern Ireland, Wales, south west Scotland and the Isle of Man is in force until 11pm.

A yellow warning of “very windy weather” also covers parts of Scotland, the west and north of England and Wales.

Ophelia has arrived from the Azores in the Atlantic Ocean and comes 30 years after the UK’s Great Storm of 1987.

There is a lower likelihood of flooding affecting homes and businesses – thankfully, many Greenbelt developments are defended by Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), which can help combat potential flooding.

Our teams have been put on alert and will be monitoring the situation in Greenbelt developments all across the UK.

In the first instance, emergency services will always deal with potentially dangerous situations for the public.

However, where it is safe to do so, we do carry out remedial works as quickly as possible.

If you have urgent concerns please do contact us by telephoning 0800 028 1749 and follow the simple instructions for emergency calls.

Meantime, we urge all of our customers to travel only if absolutely necessary and, if possible, to stay safe indoors.
