Greenbelt

Weather Warning!

An important message for Greenbelt customers

The Met Office has issued Yellow Warnings for both wind and rain in Northern Ireland and the Scottish Borders, with effect from 4pm today until 6am tomorrow.

Very strong winds with gusts of 55-65mph, perhaps reaching 75mph in exposed places, are looking increasingly likely tonight into Wednesday morning.

There is a chance of power cuts and damage to trees and buildings.

The expected rainfall may cause flooding on the transport network, with spray and difficult driving conditions due to the combination of rain and wind.

There is also a lower likelihood of flooding affecting homes and businesses.

Thankfully, many of Greenbelt’s developments benefit from Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), which can help combat potential flooding.

Our teams have been put on alert and will be monitoring the situation in Greenbelt developments.

We’re hopeful damage should be to a minimum on the sites we manage but Mother Nature will always try to test even our mature woodlands and trees.

In the first instance, emergency services will always deal with potentially dangerous situations for the public.

However, where it is safe to do so, we do carry out remedial works as quickly as possible.

If you have urgent concerns please do contact us by telephoning 0800 028 1749 and follow the simple instructions for emergency calls.

Meantime, we urge all of our customers to use caution when travelling and, if possible, stay safe and dry indoors!
