Our Local Hero

Congratulations to Greenbelt’s first Local Hero for 2017!

Stuart Mallan is chairperson of the Drumsagard Village Residents Association.

A fabulous, forward-thinking community group, most recently the Association has been involved in organising and funding a pensioners’ lunch, hailed as a great success for the elderly in the local area

As our picture – with Stuart in the centre – shows, they’ve also successfully kickstarted their Drumsagard In Bloom campaign with brand new planters.

Their twice yearly litter pick, meantime, has been attracting even more members of the community, while the recent implementation of a Neighbourhood Watch scheme will see neighbours become involved in looking out for the safety and security of one another’s property.

Accepting our Local Hero award – and his garden centre vouchers prize – Stuart said: “It is an honour to have been nominated for Greenbelt’s Local Hero but an even bigger surprise to have won the award!

“I would like to thank Greenbelt for all the hard work they do in our area and the assistance they provide.

“I would also like to thank the Drumsagard Village Residents Association members, who also work hard and have the community’s best interest at heart.”

To nominate your own Local Hero, simply send the details of your chosen person and the reasons they really are a VIP to our Community Liaison Officer Nick Upton.
