The Friends of Springfield Mill Park have successfully transformed this park area in Leeds.
In 2006, Greenbelt played a part in the formation of The Friends, together with Leeds City Council, the police and other agencies.
As owners, Greenbelt was pleased to encourage this local initiative, and were delighted that the group received funding to improve the facilities which in turn reduced the incidence of anti social behaviour. Greenbelt agreed to an improved maintenance regime, and is another example of Greenbelt working in partnership with other organisations.
Springfield Mills won an award in 2007, and has since had the local mayor, and a government minister perform opening ceremonies at special events. The latest success has been the re-opening of a pond in the park in July.
